Respighi's knowledge of past musical styles is evident in The Birds Suite. Pieces from the 18th century are given a new treatment, but in a traditional style, as bird songs are mimicked by the orchestra. Each section of the piece after the Prelude is devoted to a different bird: hen, dove, nightingale and cuckoo, respectively. The Frequency Orchestra uses subtle power to drive Respighi's The Birds Suite as the piece unfolds beautifully.
